Back in 2008 Ed FitzGerald was convicted by the Ohio Elections Commission of 5 counts of printing false statements on his campaign literature. However, the Elections Commission ruling was made less than 12 hours before the polls opened and the Plain Dealer and other outlets didn't run the story until way after the fact. A bit late. F

Fact is FitzGerald knows the Elections Commission is a paper tiger and lying to the voters only results in a minor slap on the wrist. So why not?

The Board of Elections could not approve his final 2007 campaign report and his treasurer Gayle Wellman, reportedly refused to sign off on the final report. Gayle was concurrently the treasurer of the Lakewood Democratic Club, which FitzGerald was President, an organization that could not account for its contributions either.

Well that explains why Mayor Summers signed with Ed, he knew how to break laws and which ones to break.

The real questions is why did Lakewoodites sit by and get played again, and again, and again...

A vote for Summers is a vote for Ed Fitzgerald, the national laughingstock.

The strategy Fitzgerald and Summers are using is go ahead and violate the law, the election will be over before anyone can do a thing about it. The damage is already done, they reason.

When they finally get their slap on the wrist and a fine, I'm sure Fitzgeralds' failed gubernatorial campaign fund will spring for the fine - it's just the cost of winning the election, and a price Gitz is willing to pay to keep being a part of politics in this town. He will direct and control Summers, who will owe him. Just like he owes him for his appointment.

Never forget that Fitzgerald and Summers are a team. That's why a vote for Summers is a vote FOR Fitzgerald.

It's time PO 14 finally got the boot. As the Plain Dealer said of Fitzgerald:

his campaign's greatest obstacle was great concentrations of his own hubris and character flaws.

FitzGerald is the Cuyahoga County reformer who needs to reform himself. Until that happens, the job he's most qualified for is Fraud Expert.
