It looks like a perpetrator is in custody, but was he working alone? That is unclear.

My truck was rifled through, as was a neighbor's. Just down the street, a neighbor had 1 car broken into and a 2nd stolen.

Just be careful if you live in the neighborhood. You would think they wouldn't be that dumb to come back to the scene of the crime, but...

Well, if one read the Plain Dealer, one would think Lakewood was experiencing a huge increase in crime. Armed robberies are increasingly common.

Wasn't there a site called "Crimewood" that posted daily updates of all the crime in Lakewood?

Thanks John, for putting this up and letting everyone know. Sorry to hear that you were a victim. Unfortunately, this is not new to Lakewood. A lot of these crimes that involve theft of and/or from vehicles are committed by teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19. I suggested a couple of years ago at a council meeting that a drop-in center may help alleviate some of the problems. I even volunteered my time to look for outside funding and grants. I was given the brush-off.

It is not uncommon to see teenagers out on the streets at 2, 3, and 4 o'clock in the morning. Some of them have been caught committing crimes (vehicle theft, stealing from cars, stealing from garages, stealing decorations,etc.). Most of the time, they are driven home by the police when caught and released without charges to their parents. I don't think this is the doing of the police. I think they are following orders. From who and why, I don't know.
