ELECTIONS VIOLATIONS:Summers Can't Back Up Campaign Claims---Is He Hiding Public Records That Show He Lied?
Posted: Thu Oct 15, 2015 10:31 pm
Its been 10 days since my email below asking Summers to provide public records that might back up his claims in campaign literature "We've added 75 new businesses and more than $80 million in private investment since I've been mayor."
He has produced nothing yet to support those claims--nada, zero, zilch!
Is he manufacturing the data?
What kind of businessman or executive can't produce evidence of the alleged accomplishments he boasts about?
If he can't back up the claims, this may be an elections law violation.
The only record that Summers has to support his threat of an "enormous tax " increase is an op-ed piece written by his finance director--Jenn Pae---She became unhinged when senior citizen Tom Monahan of SLH simply questioned her "opinion" in that very op-ed. FYI the $96 million number from Pae that came from the Huron report, actually originated from CCF. So you guessed it, Summers campaign "facts" are CCF "facts." Summers numbers on big issues are shaky.
Can't our City leaders do anything without relying on CCF?
Why should we trust a mayor and finance director who can't can generate their own numbers and have to take orders from CCF for alleged "enormous tax" increases?
The failure to provide 5 out of 6 categories of the records I requested is also an ongoing pattern of violating many records requests I have made.

Mr. Essi,
With respect to No. 5 of your requests below, the Mayor’s campaign indicated it relied on the data presented by the finance director in her opinion piece published on Cleveland.com:
http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index. ... s_and.html
The $96 million figure in Director Pae’s opinion piece comes from the final Huron Consulting report, which you have and which is posted on the city’s website.
We are still reviewing your requests made in items 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 below.

Dear Director Butler and Mayor Summers,
I received a campaign flier from Mayor Summers in my mailbox on October 3, 2015 that made the following claims:
a. "We've added 75 new businesses and more than $80 million in private investment since I've been mayor"
b. "Without this plan, it will require an enormous tax on residents just to keep outdated Lakewood Hospital open."
Please produce the following public records:
1. Records identifying the 75 businesses referred to in item "a" above and the date said businesses opened.
2. Records showing the connection between actions and policies of Mayor Summers and each business identified in records produced in request number 1.
3. Records substantiating the claim of $80 million in private investment referred to in item "a" above.
4. Slides, records, paperwork and data supporting Mayor Summers' State of the City Addresses.
5. Records of any City and/or Mayor Summers estimates of the alleged "enormous tax" referred to in item "b" above.
6. Records identifying of businesses that have closed or left Lakewood since Mr. Summers has been mayor.
Sincerely,
Brian J. Essi
