WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THIS WEEKEND
LAKEWOOD RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED TO MOVE CARS OFF OF THE STREET DURING HEAVY SNOWSTORMS

Weather forecasts are predicting heavy snow and ice throughout the weekend. Lakewood residents are reminded that they need to move their cars off of the street during heavy snow so streets can be plowed.

On streets that are posted Emergency Snow Ban streets, whenever there is snow fall of two (2) inches or more within a twenty-four (24) hour period, the emergency snow ban takes effect. The snow ban restrictions on parking take effect without any requirement of an announcement by the City of Lakewood. In the event of a snow fall of two inches or more, parking is not permitted on streets posted as emergency snow ban streets. Motorists should always consult the posted signs, and be advised that in the event of a snow fall of two inches or more, the emergency snow parking bans will be enforced.

A city-wide emergency snow parking ban may also be declared in the event of a heavy snow storm. This means parking would not be permitted on any city street until the street has been plowed. Should an emergency snow parking ban be issued, the city will send the notice to all media outlets, post the information prominently on the City of Lakewood website at www.onelakewood.com and place a message on Lakewood Radio 1660 AM.

Lakewood Codified Ordinance 351.26 and 351.27 contain the provisions of the emergency snow parking bans.

For the safety of all residents, please help the City of Lakewood clear the streets by removing vehicles during these snow emergencies.

Stan,

Ease up, man.

I'm just happy she showed up with good information.

The post is relevant whether she works for the city, or not.

Many thanks to Melissa.

Steve

Thank you for your post Melissa I was oblivious to a storm heading our way, so with your info I went out back backed my car in so that I'll be able to get out easily in the morning.

And guys do you know that sarcasm doesn't translate well over the net? :)

All

To explain Stan's post...

We might all remember when Dan Slife wrote, "Managing The Grand Stan." In this story Stan was outed as having some bias in favor of Tom George, and his reports on City Council could often be seen as a "hit" on behalf of Tom George. While many of us at the Lakewood Observer know that Stan was one of Tom's best friends, and worked on his campaign many did not and Dan felt, the article was Dan's way of "outing" the relationship.

To Stan's credit, he has asked the Lakewood Observer to start putting affliations and credentials with story writers, and we are working on that in 2009. I think many people would be fascinated that Gordon Brumm for example is a senior citizen, with a doctorate in logic from Harvard, and a master in philosophy from Yale. Many seem to think that LO writers have not enough credentials to write for a paper!

That said Melissa Garrett is also a longtime Lakewood resident and supporter, and huge fan of the Observer project, way before Stan was re-aligned.

I do think he was tough on Melissa, but does have a very valid point.

FWIW.

Stephen

I am with you brotha.

Not to mention we are actually trying to get more involvement from those at City Hall, the Schools, etc.

Melissa Garret has never been political, no matter who is in office, she has worked hard to stay above the fray, and has always been a fan of the city, non-political, and a tremendous asset to anyone that has every done anything in this city. I would love 1,000 Melissa Garretts.

However, I thought I could also explain, where my good friend Stan Austin was coming from.

Detroit Avenue is a mess down here on the West End. I don't have to go out in this today.

The guys who delivered my new box spring and mattress this morning, said that the highway was really bad and the roads were terrible.

If you can, stay in.

Oh they are out there romping and playing. It's hard to find Batman because he is all white so he blends in. Lucy is making herself at home in the snow. Snoopy however, for a beagle, he is odd. He hates outside. LOL.
