Yes We Can!

I heard Grant Hill this morning on Later Edition. He was quite eloquent. However one of the comments that he made in passing really struck a chord with me. He was talking about poor kids in run down cities that went to parks where there was glass on the basketball courts and there were no hoops. This seemed to be a symbol to him and the others on the panel as cities that were in decline that didn't care about their children. It made me angry as that isn't what I want people to think of Lakewood.
I know there were many reasons speculated as to why a decision was made to take down the hoops. However with a sense of hope and in a spirit of change, I wonder if YES WE CAN put the basketball hoops back up? Let's take some baby steps and focus on what we can do to improve the image of our city.
