HALLOWEEN IS GOING TO THE DOGS!
BE PART OF LAKEWOOD’S FIRST-EVER SPOOKY POOCH PARADE!


REGISTER TODAY AT MAINSTREETLAKEWOOD.ORG
Get out the costumes for your dogs, kids and yourself and celebrate Halloween in Lakewood’s first Spooky Pooch Parade! All pre-registered dogs will receive a goody bag filled with toys and treats!

WHERE: Parade starts on Detroit Avenue across from
Lakewood Hospital (Belle Ave.) traveling west
on Detroit and ends at Lakewood Library.

WHEN: Saturday, October 18, 2008

TIME: Check-in: 1 pm at St. Charles Green
(Behing parking garage at 1360 Belle Ave.)

COST: $10 per registered dog in advance
$15 day of the event

PARADE BEGINS AT 2 PM - FESTIVITIES END AT 4PM

PARADE: More than 200 dogs and their owners will strut their stuff in their best Halloween costumes. Local celebrities will award great prizes for the most creative and original costumes in several categories. Don't miss this hilarious event!

BENEFIT: Proceeds from this event to benefit the Lakewood Animal Shelter, Lakewood Dog Park and a little for Main Street Lakewood (so we can do this again next year!)

ACTIVITIES: RAFFLE FOR GRAND PRIZES: Dog Food for an entire year (from Pet's General Store) and two handmade dog houses (from Lakewood Hardware), a dog bed and gift certificate from Inn the Dog House. At the end of the parade there will be obedience demonstrations by North Coast Dogs, fun contests for kids and dogs, samples and freebies from local vendores!

As you pass Lakewood Hardware in the next few days, look for the two Dog Houses that we will raffle at the Spooky Pooch Parade on October 18th. Glen almost has them done and will place them in front of the store very soon!

Remember that if you are one of the first 200 dogs pre-registered (www.mainstreetlakewood.org) you will receive a goodie bag full of dog treats, toys and coupons good for other doggie goodies!!

It will be more than worth your $10 registration fee (and it goes to a great cause!)

HALLOWEEN IN LAKEWOOD IS GOING

TO THE DOGS!



LAKEWOOD, OH – Join the fun on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. as Main Street Lakewood presents the Spooky Pooch Parade, an event that’s sure to become a Halloween tradition for Northeast Ohio dog lovers and their families.



Dogs of all shapes and sizes dressed in their finest Halloween fashions will strut their stuff down the heart of Lakewood ’s business district on Detroit Avenue . Celebrity judges include Channel 19 news women Denise Dufala and Dawn Kendrick. Sandra Philipson, noted local author of the children’s series “Max and Annie,â€￾ will also award prizes for dogs and kids in a number of categories including most creative, most original and best float.



“This new event will bring all kinds of people together in downtown Lakewood to celebrate Halloween,â€￾ said Main Street Lakewood executive director, Mary Anne Crampton. “It’s a great way to highlight our very walkable city.â€￾ Parade co-chair Rhonda Loje added, “Dog owners and children are encouraged to come in costume, too. It will be a hilarious and fun-filled family event whether you are in the parade or a spectator.â€￾



The first 200 registered participants will receive a goody bag filled with doggie treats and toys and all participants will be entered in a drawing to win free dog food for a year and two handmade dog houses, both courtesy of local Lakewood businesses.



Registration check-in begins at 1 p.m. at the St. Charles Green (behind the parking garage at 1360 Belle Ave. ) with the parade set to step off at 2 p.m. The parade route begins at Lakewood Hospital and marches west down Detroit Avenue to the Arthur Avenue Extension (next to Discount Drug Mart at 15412 Detroit Ave. ) Following the parade the raffle will be held, costume prizes awarded, children’s activities, vendors and nonprofits booths with dog-related goods and services will be available as well. Participants include the Cleveland Clinic Therapy Dogs and North Coast Dogs, which will be giving an obedience demonstration.



Registration costs $10 per dog, $15 the day of the parade. Proceeds from the parade will benefit the Lakewood Animal Shelter, the Lakewood Dog Park and parade organizer Main Street Lakewood .



Pre-register online at www.mainstreetlakewood.org. Registration forms can also be downloaded or found at the Lakewood Public Library.



To participate dogs must be on a non-retractable leash at all times, their rabies and vaccinations must be current; they must wear I.D. tags; they cannot be in heat nor be aggressive ; and no puppies under 4 months old or without vaccinations are allowed. Also, owners must clean up after their pets.



Main Street Lakewood is a program of Lakewood Community Progress Inc., a 501-c (3) tax-exempt organization dedicated to the revitalization of Lakewood ’s historic downtown district.

Just thought I would let you all know that we will an antique hearse at he head of the parade!

It will great to see one of our celebrity judges riding in the hearse!

You can bring your dog and register at www.mainstreetlakewood.org or just bring yourself and your kids and dress up in your Halloween best and come for FREE!!
