What is National Arts and Humanities Month?
National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) is a coast-to-coast collective celebration of culture in America. Held every October and coordinated by Americans for the Arts, it has become the largest annual celebration of the arts and humanities in the nation. From arts center open houses to mayoral proclamations to banners and media coverage, communities across the United States join together to recognize the importance of arts and culture to citizen's daily lives.
Lakewood is Art has proposed that the City of Lakewood join this celebration. We are working to put together a calendar of every arts and culture related activity that will be going on in October. Here is what we have thus far:
Sat. October 11, 6pm-10pm Lakewood Art Walk on Madison Avenue
Sat., October 18, 2pm Spooky Pouch Parade, from Lakewood Hospital to Lakewood Library--Main Street Lakewood
Friday, October 24, 6pm-10pm, ART, SHOP, WINE and DINE ArtWalk on Detroit Avenue
Sat. October 25, 1pm-2pm, Chamber of Commerce Window Painting Award Ceremony
Sat., October 25, "What's New in Art and Design", 6:30pm-10pm, Clifton Club--Virginia Marti College Fundraiser
Sun, October 26, Pumpkin Palooza, 1pm-4pm, at Lakewood High School
Friday, October 31, 6pm-8pm, City wide Trick or Treating
I know that we have a ton more going on--so please email me or respond to this post with additions!
