After over 18 months of negotiations, the Lakewood Paramedics Association has reached an agreement with the City of Lakewood for a three-year contract for the period 2007-2009. This contract calls for a 0% wage increase for 2007 & 2008 and a 2.5% wage increase in 2009. The contract also changes their medical insurance plan from a 100% coverage plan to a 90/10 plan. The contract will be presented to Lakewood City Council at their next council meeting.
“I appreciate the willingness of the Paramedics to negotiate this contract and make sacrifices during these difficult times,†stated Mayor Ed FitzGerald. “This is a big step forward for the city beginning to live within its means and will help avoid future cuts in service and employees.â€
