Parks, Recycling, and Golf
Posted: Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:17 pm
Mandatory recycling is in the news, the condition of the parks was discussed just recently and as mentioned has improved dramatically over the 4th of July holiday, and coming up in two weeks you can help to add one more element of a progressive city by just golfing for a couple hours. Yes, you can hit the greens for a greener Lakewood on Friday July 25th. Proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing recycling receptacles for high traffic areas of our parks. The day will feature all of the amenities that golf outings have grown accustomed to, including door prizes, skill contests for the longest putt, drive, and closest to the pin, the chance to win a car from Steve Barry Buick for a hole in one, as well as lunch and a steak dinner. To make it more green though, we will also be setting this event as zero waste, and working towards making it carbon neutral. Information and products will also be available to make your life off the course more environmentally friendly. More details to follow as the event draws closer.
Cost is $90/golfer or $320/foursome.
