I had a chance to stop by and check out Ecclectic Home, on Detroit next to Borderline Cafe. Its a cute store that sells decor for home and garden, and nice little gifts like candles, soaps. So if you still need to get something for Mom on Mothers DAyI reccommend it. The prices are not to expensive either.

Anne,
I am so glad you mentioned the store. I found lights for my bathroom that I have been looking for for 2 years. I was afraid to look at the price as I usually pick way beyond my budget and was very pleasantly surprised. The owner is very nice, the store is beautiful, and I hope everyone makes it a point to stop in. There is also another new store on Detroit next to Alladin's. If you are into Green...this is your store. With Mother's Day on Sun. I am hopeful Lakewood will support these and other Lakewood stores as well. Cosmic Collectibles always has great items and is now carrying Paddywax candles, Hixon's is always fun, Plantation Home is just beautiful and I have not even hit Madison yet. Happy Mother's Day all and happy shopping.

thank you both for the recommendation! I just returned and for me it's Mother's Day Mission: Accomplished!

There is a wide variety of items for every budget. I'll definitely go back soon.

I spoke with the owners for a bit - they've been open for 3 wks and say business is steady and the surrounding neighborhood is great. They also said they will be getting even more items in soon after they visit an upcoming trade show.

EDIT: fyi, cash/check only for now, but the owner said credit cards within a few weeks.

Me too. Great gift for mom. I asked if they had an albino python for a gift, they said not so much....

BTW don't forget Local Girl Gallery and Sweet Designs down the street right next door to each other. Both those places are fantastic too!

But tooling around, my daughter Mattie and I decided what Mom really wants. A motor scooter!
