Promoting business on the Deck

I'm curious and perplexed. Could I get some clarification on if it is appropriate to promote your business interests on the Deck. While in the past the propping up of the benefits and the accomplishments of the OD was tolerated, I'm curious if the same treatment is appropriate for AGS and Ninth Estate. If I or another business owner posted long messages about the benefits of our business is that okay? Maybe I've just overlooked a great opportunity to market but it's been my understanding that this wasn't the proper forum.

We have actually been very relaxed on this. I posted this as it is a public invite to an event at no charge that dealt with "Hyper-Local Journalism" and the non-profit Heights Observer project.
In the past we have allowed new businesses to post openings, on the deck and after a day they are moved to one of the business sections of the deck. As I waited until the day before the event, it will be moved tomorrow and not be around to worry you.
While you found it a great method to discuss this, I would like to point out that the Lakewood Observer has many different ways to promote local businesses, and is one of the most successful ways to bring in new businesses. For a simple small ad in the Lakewood Observer you can receive over $1,000 in benefits each and every year.
Of course Lakewood businesses receive a substantial discount over outside businesses. Non-profits and churches can post for free and recieve FREE websites through LakewoodCares.
On the Observer we try to limit pure advertising to Mainstreet highlights, and the largest online business directory in Lakewood "Lakewood Shopping Experience" where businesses can get FREE listings as you know, and up to 1 full page that they can change at no cost whenever they want.
Outside of that we try to limit stories and posts of businesses to: New businesses, moved businesses, businesses involved in a FREE or non-profit fund raising event, or major renovation. So if you were to move your business to Lakewood you could post it.
Thanks for asking.

Naturally, there has been great attention paid to promoting business and assisting local operations and certainly that can be appreciated. Just thought it was worth clarifying as the entity seems to be changing a bit and since there were a handful at best of redirects and criticisms in the past when poster even linked their business in their signature. You know good for the goose and even handedness and what not.
While playing it loose and not having agreed upon rules of engagement may be the direction, I would worry if the only ads that were allowed were from the entity itself.

The info about AGS and /or Ninth Estate is/was, in my mind, more akin to the other ongoing discussions of businesses coming into Lakewood, and general information about them.
AGS is not seeking, nor is it attempting to "market" any product to the readers of this forum. Ninth Estate is not available on the retail market.

Very good points.
Thanks for asking the question.
