Lakewood, OH - AGS Software Inc., the company that designed the software that runs the Lakewood Observer, Heights Observer and other media projects coming online with the revolutionary NinthEstate Software has announced the appointment Tim Curtiss as chief executive officer and president. Tim will replace James C. O'Bryan current CEO and President immediately. This will also help facilitate the growth of AGS Software speeding up their development into into other fields like school software and city/community software. Considered by many as a leader in the new field of collaborative software this will allow AGS to continue to set the pace in this exciting new field.
Clients, including the Lakewood Observer and FutureHeights, are using Ninth Estate to streamline newspaper production and integrate publication of print editions with online capabilities. The Observer, a biweekly with circulation of approximately 15,000, has published 85 editions since its launch in 2004.
Tim Curtiss noted, "There has been much discussion of the demand for local media and the difficulty of serving local markets profitably. Local and regional print publishers have been consolidating for a long time. Many online participants have entered and departed this business in recent years. We designed Ninth Estate to address the problems faced by incumbents and new media entrepreneurs. By integrating print production with the management of websites and online operations, this software helps publishers improve profitability and better serve large and local advertising clients. Delivering Ninth Estate as a web service makes it easy for clients to test and use this platform without disrupting their information systems. We have identified numerous opportunities to add exciting capabilities, as clients seek participation in broadcast and emerging social networking media."
Mr. Curtiss has founded several companies, including Liquid Resources, an environmental firm that offered recycling services to clients in the beverage and brewing industry. Liquid Resources converted beverage and other liquid waste into ethanol. Liquid Resources was purchased by Veolia Environmental Services, the largest environmental company in the world, in 2007. Prior to commencing his entrepreneurial career, Curtiss worked as an adviser to high-growth public and privately owned companies. He has worked as an institutional securities broker, trader and investor, in New York and Cleveland, for 20 years. Curtiss, a Cleveland native, received his B.A. from Yale University. He is a trustee of Laurel School, a National Executive commissioner of the Anti-Defamation League, an honorary trustee of the Old Stone Foundation and past president of the Yale Alumni Association of Cleveland.
