What are your teens doing this Friday night???

Well I've just made the trip to the Lakewood Y twice in the last 20 minutes.
Trip one was to drop off 3- 13 year olds and a 19 year old college student home for spring break to play some basketball at the Y. While dropping them I recgonized no less than 6 players from the LHS Varsity basketball team as well as another 6 or 7 junior high boys heading into the Y with basketballs.
Less than 15 minutes later my boys call and tell me the Y gyms are closed from 5-8pm for an Easter Egg event. While I am in no way critizing the Y for holding such an event, I am extremely frustrated as a mother. Here you have all these kids, boys and girls, looking for a place to play basketball, and there is not a court around for them!
Not only is the Y gym closed tonight, but it is booked with programs on Saturday from 7am-8pm! With the popularity of the Y they can not even begin to fill the need and demand there is for basketball courts for our community.
Where are we as a city filling this need???
NO WHERE!!!
Where are these kids supposed to gather to play, exercise, blow off some steam?? Not all kids these days are glued to computers and electronic gaming systems!
There are no open gyms scheduled this weekend at any of our awesome schools gyms either!
Even if the weather warmed enough to play basketball outside our kids would be high and dry again. Once again.....not a single outdoor basketball court survives in Lakewood!
