Sunset on the last of the ice on the southern shore of Lake George. Possible proof of global warming. The ice was melted by mid February. Lake George is located just east of Lakewood's Emerald Canyon. Lakewood, Ohio is often considered to be the Paris of Cleveland's Inner Ring Suburbs.

As Lakewood is now considered by some to be, "The Paris(City of Lights) of Cleveland's Inner Ring Suburbs" that might work against the branding.

Although the photos above take me back to Scotland in the early spring. With the scrub coming right up to the edge of the lowland bogs.

I agree with Tim on this.

We have been on the back of the bell curve for oil for at least 6 years maybe longer. With the rapid increase in use, China, India, to name a few. The oil will run out so fast it will be startling.

One problem is that oil based fuels average about 98% efficiency. Coal I think is around 93%. The rest are in the 40% or so. So to build and maintain windmills, hybrids, batteries, solar panels etc. can't be done without oil!

Life, is about to change forever. Throw in the insurance nightmare, and we are about to enjoy the nice simple life of the 1880s.

It is too late.

I don't disagree that the problem is serious. But the only solution is innovation. The conservation methods suggested are a drop in the bucket and ultimately inconsequential.

We would be far better off to spend the trillion dollars a year we are spending in Iraq in finding innovative solutions.

This is really what the post environmentalists are suggesting. A Manhattan style project to find new solutions.

Aerial view of the lake. The massive crescent shaped lake is just east of the Emerald Canyon, which can be seen in this aerial photo. The canyon looks closer than it really is. Here it looks like it is only 40' away. the truth is closer to 55'.
