I went for a walk on...

Saturday morning before the ugly weather hit Sunday. Well, uglier than Saturday. I Walked around Stinchcomb for a couple hours. I was hoping to see some wildlife. It was drizzly and ugly out. I guess all the wildlife was smarter than I was; they stayed in out of the yuck. In addition to getting muddy and wet I managed to take a couple snap shots.

Sometimes talking with people here in Lakewood I get the feeling a lot of people take the Metro Parks for granted. We are lucky to have this resource that wraps around Cleveland. It's an asset to Lakewood and the entire area of course. We have some amazing wildlife and wild areas to see, explore, and hike in. Not to mention the Cuyahoga Valley National Park which you can easily get lost in for hours or days if you aren't careful.

I've been to a lot of places around the country and Mexico. I haven't found a city yet with something like the Metro Parks. I'm sure there is better out there, but Lakewood is lucky to have the Metro Parks.

Can't wait for July and our week of sun and summer...

#1 - scared a couple Malards

#2 - Nuthatch of some flavor.

#3 - tracks

#4 - stuff that makes you sneeze in late summer

#5 - Nuthatch again

#6 - Burdock. Somebody made lots of money after studying this weed; velco.

#7 - thistle (creamy bokeh, eh?)

#8 - Nuthatch keeps following me
Image

#9 - a pair of shoes next to a tree. I figured a Park Ranger snuck up on some people making out and they ran off with out their shoes. Ivor? What size shoe do you wear? :)
Image

#10 - that monster drain pipe down there that we've all wondered how far we would get if we went in...

#11 - fungus and bacteria having a field day

indeed very nice.
I go on at least one walk every season, more in the fall of course. But the last one I went to I was followed by a car so I became too creeped out and left.

Along with lenses and batteries in my bag, I always carry mace in my pocket when I go on walks now.

It was one of the scariest experiences to be followed by a stranger.

But I still love the metro parks!

Joe-- Beautiful photos! I trudge the slushed filled streets in the early morning and there is a unique beauty there. But you have pointed out a rare universe that is open to all of us right, in our own backyard!
