The Observation Deck

I love my free calendar but is this done by the city, or by an outside company? I was shocked to look at my Lakewood calendar and see in influx of businesses in Fairview Park and Rocky River!! I thought the point of the calendar was to highlight the local businesses! There are enough restaurants, dentists, realtors, etc. in Lakewood to have on there and I don't understand the purpose of advertising outside of Lakewood businesses.

Are there not enough advertisers in Lakewood? Instead of Beardon burgers, it should be Beer Engine. Instead of Danny Boys, it should be Angelos, or any other good pizza. Does anyone know who does the marketing for this?

Sounds like a reasonable question. I wonder why local business doesn't feel the need to lock in and capture the Lakewood market. My guess without talking to the town planner offices is that either the advertisers paid for regional distribution to include not only their home city but the surrounding areas or that Lakewood businesses did not subscribe as advertisers.
The calendar by the way is handled by a private company as discussed last year in a similar thread that griped about the photos. The result of that discussion was to publish a separate calendar. Did that fizzle?

How funny. I didn't know there was another thread on this!! With all the awesome photos that JOB, David Lay, Ivor, Rhonda, etc. take of Lakewood, I can't believe this Lakewood calendar is filled with photos that have nothing to do with Lakewood! If an outside company is profiting off this calendar, why wouldn't some lakewood printer take it over and fill it with Lakewood businesses and photos, since it is a TOWN calendar.
