Lakewood Observer Formal Dance?

I just got this idea randomly after playing my guitar.

What if the LO had a formal ball? I'm trying to think of a way that this could work and help out a local charity or group.

Maybe a system could be in place where people would pay for tickets and bring canned food or donate an article or two of clothing.

I had a blast at my prom last year, and I can just imagine everyone in a suit or a dress. It would be hilarious but so much fun to be able to spend an evening with the fellow observers. Plus, you'd have to get a date!

I know a great DJ, and I'm almost certain that finding music wouldn't be a hard thing to do for an event like this.

It'd be fun! what do you guys think?!

I think you have this one under control. Drop Ruthie a line over at Lakewood Cares and I am sure she can hook you up with a charity.

Stan,

Do I understand properly that you would like us to wear bowling shirts over a dress to this proposed dance?

I'm not certain whether I could find a dress, but I do have that Scottish kilt around here somewhere...

Stan and Gary - will you be my escorts?

We could be two Freds and a Ginger!

Sharon,

Nice idea, although I've never danced in a foxtrot for three. :D

In all seriousness, monthly dances have been held at the Masonic Temple for quite a while. I think they've had both big-band, and contradance themes. Perhaps this kind of event could be combined with the LO crowd for a mutually supportive Lakewood event?

One of the few times I've been seen in a suit:
