Leagues?

Recently a couple of us were in Cleveland Heights speaking with Future Heights about sister cities Cleveland/University Heights and Lakewood. It was discovered they had not a single bowling alley while we had four.

Maybe we should celebrate the difference.

Tom Mahal thought we had enough bowlers to start a league?

Any interest?

We have a very nice Lakewood Observer bowling shirt planned for the spring.

Perhaps we could get the LO Sports and Education group to help underwrite some of the expenses.

LO leagues? Love the idea!

After a hiatus (away from bowling) of some 40 years, I went to Mahall's twice this past week to prep for the party, and discovered that I LOVED bowling, especially at classic Mahall's! While other alleys may have automatic scoring and such, I like doing some things just as I used to do them, and scoring the old way fits that bill nicely!

That great place is such a gem in the pulse of our city! They have good food, a beautiful restaurant/lounge, and a spacious pool room, as well.

If you haven't been bowling in awhile, I would suggest that you try it out. It was an outstanding experience to get back into the game!

Having never actually bowled in my life, it's still a little scary to me.

That actually sounds like fun, as long as no one is competitive enough to hate us that get under 100! Sorry I missed the party! I got back into town too late. We have been taking the kids for some bumper bowling at Mahalls and he is on my list to write about. It is a cool and interesting story the history of those lanes and any support for them is wonderful!!! They have some pretty decent food and fish fries too! The fact that there is no more smoking indoors should start bringing more people into the lanes because it is good clean fun for the family.

But what do the bowling shirts really look like?

Have you really truly never bowled once Brian?? And you were raised in Ohio!!!

If we do this as a handicapped league, the ability is irrelevant...in fact, someone with a really low average has a lot of potential to score big....trust me on this one, cuz I'm one of those with "tremendous potential for improvement"

Sounds like a lot of fun. Gives you a break during the week...something especially appreciated during these long cold spells. Of course, I'm in. It'll give everyone something to laugh at when they see my one hopped delivery.

This last party was so much fun it would be nicce to figure out a family league, where kids get a fair handicap. And have family teams.

The shirts are very very nice, will be out this spring.

I also think we need "The Big Lebowski Memorial To Donnie Tournament" in October. Robes and white russians, great idea. We will try to find out who Lakewood's Dude is.
