214 is a Dallas, TX area code.

I think this one takes the cake in Lakewood.

Very funny photo. :)

Although in fairness, given cellphones and free long distance, I know alot of people who've moved from other areas and keep their phone numbers. For example, my sister just moved to Atlanta with her fiance and she's keeping her Cleveland cell number. He's had his Philadelphia number even when they lived in Cleveland.

I Googled the phone number and it's a cell phone of a realtor in Dallas.

Just to play devil's advocate is it a problem that individuals outside of the area invest in Lakewood or that locals are not willing or able to?
If the owner of the property is out of state but the property manager is local does that make it more acceptable?
Does the city have any hard numbers on how severe this issue really is or is it just another widely accepted issue that goes along with section 8 (HUD voucher recipients)?

That phone number is the cell phone of Gloria Vargo, a realtor in Dallas, TX. I highly doubt that she's local.

I also noticed, while walking down Waterbury after taking the photo, there are several homes for sale within a 2-block stretch between Madison and Detroit.

As the Cleveland area has not only some of the best real estate values in the nation to begin with, but of course among the highest foreclosure rates, it's only logical that speculators from all areas might look to pick up properties on the cheap around here.

Ah, good point.

As Dubya would say, "The Googles sure is powerful!" ;)
