I have posted some very interesting information on Fitzgerald.

Will I get an answer?

The pre-election campaign finance report for the November 6th election was due on October 25th. They are available at the Board of Election office on Euclid.

That report should show all payments and all contributions through the date of close of books, October 17. If I have time I'll pick up a copy and post the highlights.

The previous reports showed the Mayor's campaign receiving most of his money from out of town contributors. The majority of Fitzgerald's contributions came from Lakewood residents.

Let the chips fall where they may.

Query: The last flyer from the Mayor quoted people with the comment "Lakewood resident". Why would that have to be mentioned?

A year after Mayor Koch of New York was defeated he was constantly being told by voters that they had made a mistake. His only comment was: "The people have spoken and now the people must be punished".

I guess if you think the City is on the right track you will vote for the Mayor, if you think we can do better you will vote for Fitzgerald.

We won't know for a year or so if you must be punished.

Sharon,
I'm curious if you are for a candidate or just against those who you feel have slighted you.

I found it odd that the campaign phone number for Tom George wasn't in Lakewood. It is a 440 number.

Shawn -

I changed allegiances because I was lied to. I don't like liars, manipulators or phonies.

Hun - I am way too old to worry about someone slighting me.

We are coming up on an election for the mayor of our town. This election will impact everyone in Lakewood and have some ramifications outside of Lakewood. How can we expect someone to lead in an honorable way when they are already misrepresenting facts and breaking election laws?

What kind of person would I be to not challenge these things?

But you didn't answer my question. Whether you were slighted or lied to is semantics. Do you support the Mayor in this election? Your posts seem to just chip away at the guy that you don't like but do you support the other choice? Particularly in the Mayoral election, I would argue that the misrepresentation falls on the mayor's shoulders. The lead issue on the flyers was about FBI Stats. The stats that you acknowledged are not as glowing as they are made up to be. Wouldn't that qualify just the same as whatever reason it is that you are crusading against Fitzgerald?

Yes, I support the mayor.

By the way +1.7% rise in crime does not make a major crime wave. I also explained my thoughts on that before.

If you earned 1.7% on your investments would you think that was a large amount or would you question the validity of that investment?

I don't feel slighted. I honestly don't care about things like that. What do feel is that I have the obligation, as a conscientious citizen to do what I feel is the right thing. That's just me.

If you feel you need to do something else Shawn, have at it.

Sharon, 1.7% over what time frame?

2005 to 2006

Sharon, look at the average number for each crime stat versus the totals for 2004, 2005 and 2006. If this is the same data from the other thread then Lakewood is trending above average in several categories. (this is just one way to look at those particular numbers)

Well Sharon if there are any openings for spin doctor, you seem well qualified. The Mayor's literature is misleading about the FBI reports. Frankly, I suspected that it would be a waste of time for me to send over the breakdown over the past 7 years by incident and you have proven that it was. It goes beyond a 2005 to 2006 comparison or the overall incidents. If you are unwilling to look at the details and want to keep your eyes closed then Mayor George is your man.

That's fine Shawn - and you go ahead and support Ed.

We all got to do what we got to do.

Get focused on the important stuff

Rather than bitching I'll be focusing on getting the next mayor to set priorities, be respectful to residents, and be fiscally responsible, Poor management in my opinion is STEALING FROM THE PUBLIC. Oh by the way the CITY IS BROKE. Wake up[ people and demand a little accountability. These guys are applying for a job. We need to set the standard. We also need to make sure the the information we get from them is accurate. If you look at both sides you will find distortions. (Nothing new here)
As far as crime, my question to you is: Do you feel safer now than you did 5 years ago? We have a smaller population & I'm guessing the same number of police. Shouldn't things have gotten better? Here's another factor: Are the police we have properly trained & dedicated to minimizing crime or is a tougher criminal grinding down their effectiveness. Figure that out & try to make an informed decision.
We will get quality management when someone knows what that is & dedicates themselves to doing a stellar job. I hear a lot of bitching & see hack government as usual. I was told that isn't going to change. My response was , IT ABSOLUTELY MUST CHANGE.
I worked for a guy who told me : "Time on the job doesn't count for experience, You need to be paying attention & dedicated to doing a better job".
DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY.
