I just wanted to update everyone regarding the six week job readiness class being conducted in collaboration with the Lakewood ABLE program. Class orientation will begin on October 30th instead of the 23rd. Classes will begin at 6:00 PM at Franklin Elementary School and all Lakewood residents 18 and older are welcome to attend.

In addition, if there are any business men/women or HR managers out there looking to hire individuals, please contact me. It is our desire to partner with local Lakewood businesses that may provide potential employment opportunities for unemployed Lakewood residents.

I welcome any feedback regarding this entire endeavor.

What is the Lakewood ABLE program and who sponsors it?

Who is teaching the course?

ABLE stands for Adult Basic and Literacy Education. They focus on educating adults and I believe the Lakewood program offers ESL or teaching English as a second language. It is operated by the Lakewood Board of Education. They currently do some career planning, but our program will offer more training and hands-on assistance.
