OK I am sorry this is not necessarily about Lakewood but we just went to the Octoberfest in Berea yesterday and I was surprised to see about 40 artists set up! So if you are looking for something fun to do, kid-friendly or dog-friendly I would recommend this fest! German wine $3 a glass! Good tasting beer! German food! Jumpies and hay rides and crafts for the kids! And art for the women! Just thought I would put that out there!

Oh they have weiner dog races daily and it looks like others bring their smaller dogs there!!

Don't forget the weekly Berea (formerly Memphis) Flea Market at the rear of the Berea fairgrounds on the race track. There will be a few days upcoming when they will miss, but hopefully until the snow flies, there are treasures to be had on most weekends. I just scarfed up 3 guitar-type things there in the past few weeks. (Did I need them?-No)

As an aside, in the middle of the track there's a VW camper group camping out. Looks like Deutschland has arrived.

PS- I haven't seen so many little dogs in many a day. I kept an eye on my ankles.

PPS- Word to the wise: Although the racetrack is generally clean and smooth, they did have a horse show there recently. Watch your step...

The outside Berea fairgrounds flea market meets most Saturdays and Sundays until about snow time. I did see that there are a couple of days this month that they will not be open, but I did not write down those days. Sorry.

This one is a FANTASTIC flea market, particularly on Sundays.

In the past, there was also an indoor Berea flea market, in one or more of the fair buildings, but I'm not aware of any present info about that one.

I LOVE flea markets too!

Gary - The indoor vendors were there for a long time - but they didn't really sell the "real" flea market stuff. Mostly new - from china - statues and novelty items. Although there were a couple of guys that sold used computer parts and some used books were sold there also.

The "old" Memphis flea market participants are where you fine the fun stuff.

It has been my experience that many of Jamies' Saturday vendors show up at the Berea fairgrounds (formerly Memphis) flea market on Sundays.

For those having a day off Monday or Thursday, the Hartville Flea Market (and Bylers's across the street) makes for a GREAT day trip! Hartville kitchen is fabulous, and the place has plenty of parking and indoor/outdoor stalls on pavement/blacktop. Those wanting the more rustic flea experience can go across the street to the older flea market location. That market often has some really great stuff too, although the ground is uneven and hilly for walking.

If anyone runs across men's western boots, which look pretty ornate, unique or just good looking , size 11 to 12, let me know where on PM. I collect them and we're not in "cowboy country" so the search isn't as easy as if we were in Montana or somewhere out there.
