New HD Channels on Cox

I just noticed that we now have The National Geographic Channel and A&E in HD.
NGC in HD, what a happy day.

Probably won't happen any time soon, as long as they want $1.10 per viewer from the cable & satellite companies...

I think with Direct TV that we get this for free.

The problem with Big Ten Network is that they are demanding $1.10 per viewer from the cable/satellite providers for rights to carry the network, which is unheard of, especially for a network which is brand new.
Unless they lower their demands, it's a fat chance that more cable/satellite companies besides DirecTV will carry it.

that is a rip off... I noticed yesterday that in 600's on Direct TV that were several College Football games on.

Did you read the entire article? He calls the battle between the Big Ten Network and Comcast a "Greedfest", not the network exclusively. Keep in mind the cable companies can advertise on these networks during the games, so to think that they are protecting their customer is not truly accurate. This is about negotiating a better price and where the network will be placed within the channel tiers.
This is no different than the battle between Sportstime Ohio and the local cable/dish companies a couple years back. When all was said and done, the Tribe was available to all who had cable just as planned. The same will happen here.
If you're a Buckeye fan and you think missing a few lower tier football games is a bad thing, wait til basketball season, 65% of all Big Ten hoops will be on the Big Ten Network.
