Ward 3 Block Watch - update

Although it was hot, humid, and buggy, we had a great captains meeting last night for the Ward 3 block watch initiative.
Sue and I would like to thank everyone who joined us, as well as everyone who has expressed interest in participating. We continue to get phone calls and emails from people signing up.
The captains left with the information they need to start the watch on their streets. We will be setting up a website as a central location for the captains to update us on their successes. The website will be open for all to see. Other streets that would like to be added to the site are encouraged to contact me at 216-521-9162.
We will be having another captains meeting in a month - this will give the captains time to contact their neighbors and set a plan in place. They are all aware that they can contact Sue or I at any time for assistance. And, of course, we will continue to monitor the area to lend a hand where needed.
It is very encouraging to us that so many people have stepped up to the plate - not only in this area, but throughout Lakewood. There's momentum in town and, as a friend of mine likes to say - it's all good!

I had an opportunity to speak with Ms. Helbig and Ms. Kelly today. I learned about how the courageous and informed action organizing south of Madison around Roosevelt School is extending across the city.
Both Ms. Helbig and Ms. Kelly are the real deal. They are wizards in captains training. They are visionary, brave, humane and grounded.
When it comes to organizing and protecting the quality of your neighborhood, these women will set you on the path of empowerment and common sense.
If your neighborhood is shaking from nuisance troublemakers, or you are worried about chaos on your block, you owe it to yourself and friends to check into the neighborhood network these brave, capable, caring and savvy women are building.
Another neighborhood social platform that shows us how distinctive Lakewood truly is. The stories about the great people on Richmond Avenue were truly inspiring.
Bravo! And thanks from all of us for your hard work
