New taste treats at Venezia

I was out and about last night and passed by Venezia. I saw a sign in the window announcing Gelatos and sorbets. It was hot and there was a small crowd, so I stopped in for a little dessert.

Now, I love ice cream.....give some Higbees chocolate malt and I'm your friend for life. But, I recognize that all the butterfat isn't doing my arteries any good!

Gelatos are much lighter, and don't use cream. Sorbets use only fruit juice...no butterfat. So, I figured I'd give it a try. Mo has developed some interesting flavors, the peach galato with rosewater was really refreshing. The chocolate ganache rich, yet light. Raspberry sorbet was incredibly fresh. But my favorite was a light and refreshing lemon/ginger sorbet.

Now that the Detroit construction is done, Venezia is once again accessible. Mo says that while he'd love to serve you dinner, he'd be happy to have you in just for dessert.

Now Jeff, just because gelato is lighter and doesn't have cream...and sorbet has no fat, doesn't mean you should try every flavor on the menu in one sitting!!
