Mr. Eisel:
You can assess your compatibility with the ethos of the LO gang by reading: “The Lakewood Observer’s Hyper-local Dojo: Self-Defense and the Ecology of Civic Engagement,†presented at Ohio Defrag in April.

Ken,
Thank you for posting that. I knew the LO was a lot of profound things but that was an interesting read. I especially like:
• LO is a community organization effort that targets people, organizations and neighborhoods in the heroic effort to transform the affectual ecology of a street car suburb into the celestial register of harmony and love. The very simple goal is to make people feel good about making a concerted effort to increase individual and community control, political efficacy and improved quality of life.
Because the LO is open and free to every one I often roll my eyes when I read generalizations, insults, and comments about the thought police on this board. From where I read, everyone gets an opinion. The fact that someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't mean they are monitoring your thoughts, it means, they disagree. And the ones that put it down the most, seem to post the most, so they must know that this is one of the best things to happen to Lakewood, or they wouldn't read and respond.

I'm an elite haxor. A hack. A computer hack. A programming hack. A Windoze hack. An Admin hack. An SQL hack. A sometimes Mac hack (when I really really have to - better now since Unix based ). A gaming hack. A [put computer related Geek word here] hack.
I'll have to practice the "snap your fingers on both hands AT THE SAME TIME....." bit though...
Man. Such tough requirements to be a part of the gang around here.

Reject anonymity, cynicism and neighborhood anomie.
Every article, written or read, every post, written or read, helps us better know each other.
Unfortunately, there can be a tsunami of cynicism. Fortunately, we find ways to connect that are positive.
We need not be hip-popping, finger-snapping "daddies". We need to open our ears, brains and heart. That is far more challenging and dangerous than the Jets dance. But when you're a Jet, you stay a Jet.
