I had the pleasure of getting a walk through of Harding and Garfield new schools yesterday. Despite the heavy rains, Rick Berdine and School Board member Linda Beebe made me feel like it was a sunny day.

The new schools are amazing.

Can't wait until the opening on the 19th!

Now I wonder what is going on at Frankin School?

My source reports that the new Harding is (while a bit dirty from construction) absolutely beautiful. The teachers who have come in to begin preparing their rooms are thrilled. THere is a huge level of excitement with the staff.

I'm sorry I won't be here for the ribbon cutting on the 19th, I will be finishing my 60 mile 3-day walk!!!

The schools have done a great job in safety, ease of use and giving the students the best opportunity to make the most of their days in the Lakewood School System.

I would encourage EVERY Lakewood resident to stop by opening day and go on the tours.

I think when you see first hand what our money was spent on and how, you will be pleased and very impressed.

Me too!! My son asks when he will get his new lock to practice opening...looks like they're built in now, am I right?

So...I wonder what the discipline will be for the first kid that carves/writes his/her name on the new desks!

I have to say...the Ranger looks kinda goofy with the missing guns grabbing at his empty hips.

Looks like there are built in "spurs" in the floor, had the image been made bigger.

But yeah, the hands searching for guns seem odd. His hands could have been on his hips or configured differently.

I don't have any problem with losing the guns, mind you, but a little more thought would have gone a long way in making this image work.
