My brother just encountered a man on Clifton, riding one horse and leading another. From Montana on his way to NY.

Hmm. Clint Eastwood, Dennis Weaver, Robert Redford, hmmm. None of those I'll bet.

"Doc" Mishler gets stopped by the Lakewood Police. The was no problem the police stopped talked with him. One thing Doc wants was a good fish fry, so we sent him off.



"Doc" Mishler and Stan Austin pose while the patrolman explains how to get to the Highlander. Doc is riding from Montana to Washing for "Bread For The World." Who feed children around the world.



Doc rides East on Detroit Avenue. First stop the Highlander, next stop Upper New York. "the money spent looking for and building WMDs belongs to the children of the world."

THE STREETS OF OLD LAKEWOOD

As I walked out on the streets of Old Lakewood,

As I walked out in Old Lakewood one day,

I spied an old cowboy with two sorrel horses,

With two sorrel horses, a walkin' away .


And why was he walkin' with two sorrel horses?

Just why was he walkin', that cowboy, that day?

To feed all our children, the cowboy would tell us,

With bread for a world, for the kids, come what may.


As the cowboy set off for the great Eastern Ocean,

As I looked around our Old Lakewood that day,

I thought about all of the 'Deck's petty problems,

For Gary AND "Doc"

I did a little reading on the web on this gentleman and his quest - he is said to be part of an organization called the Long Riders' Guild. People in this group seem to take long horse rides in countries all over the world, some riding for specific causes.

Doc is described as a former professor, mountain guide, and cancer survivor who sold his land and belongings and set out on horseback across the United States to call for the end of world hunger.

How cool is it that he happened to pass through Lakewood.

Thank you Jim and Suzanne for posting this. How cool and how lucky the people who got to meet him! Yes Gary it does put petty things in perspective. Thanks for the song on a Saturday night!

Aw, crud. I saw this happening in my rear-view mirror heading home from work on Friday (I think). I saw horses and wondered, "do Lakewood Police have mounted officers?" Apparently not! This is pretty cool. Bread is a pretty cool organization from what I have heard. I had a good friend who wrote for them a while back out of their Washington office.

Thanks, I was with a friend on Friday afternoon and looked out my window and there to our amazment were two horses going up Clifton.

We were curious, you solved the mystery.

That is very inspiring. I was also impressed with his facial hair. He is a sage or wizard-like character in the future mythology of America. I hope he makes it to the east coast without getting arrested or hit by a car.

Someone should have sent him to La Pita. He would have forgot about fish!

It makes sense. The more I think about it.

When a car dies you can sell it for 50 bucks to a scrap dealer.

When a horse dies you can feed a hundred dogs or orphans for a month.

I hope he didn't ride through Rocky River ... the city would probably sue him for being a noise and smell nuisance
