To all:
One of the most important things council people and mayors can do is address the needs of the people and communictae to the city, their plans and postions, while being able to answer the various questions of their consituents. So that we can better guage these abilities and learn more about the candidates we have a bunch of ways to help them.
Sent to all candidates. (except Mr. Gallagher who has not registered yet)
Dear candidates for the November 2007 election,
Welcome to the Lakewood Observer Candidate Forum.
The Lakewood Observer will be offering various opportunities, both new and time-tested, for the candidates to reach out and engage voters and residents during the 2007 and future election cycles. These outreach and dialogical opportunities will utilize the paper, with a circulation of 15,000 - 17,000, and the Observer Website with roughly 2,000,000 hits a month!
This morning we are launching the Candidate Forum in the government section of the Observation Deck. In this section any candidate can post any information about themselves, their platform, their ideas and their campaigns. Within the Candidate Forum, only candidates can post and respond to the posts of other candidates. This will be our online debate for candidates! A 24/7/365 pipeline to over 50,000 unique IP addresses, that want to know and understand you better. They want to know about your ideas, thoughts and dreams for the future of Lakewood.
The Lakewood Observer is also bringing back straw polls to the front page of the Lakewood Observer. If you have any ideas for polling questions please send them to <mailto:city.editor@lakewoodobserver.com> city.editor@lakewoodobserver.com. Results for all polls will be made available to the public.
The LO is hoping to have a "Meet the candidates" picnic or get-together, support a couple of debates, "issue tests" and more.
This year the Lakewood Observer will help candidates take their messages into as many homes as possible. We are prepared to connect your ideas, thoughts and dreams for the future of Lakewood with those of the citizens of your constituents.
We will send you email updates as we launch election features over the next two weeks. If there is any questions or problems please PM the administrator ASAP.
We are here for you, all of you.
Good luck. Keep it clean. Let's move the city forward through open
discussion and vetting of ideas, thoughts and dreams for the future of Lakewood.
