Weekly Community Festival?

I just got back from a trip to Tennessee and we stopped and spent some time in Lexington KY on the way down and the way back. We attended a great weekly tradition that they have. Every Thursday night during the summer they have a different small local band play and local restaurants have booths of food and different non profits have small kids games and booths. They had great attendance and the folks there seemed to love it. Each week a different non-profit was the focus and the profits from beer tickets and game tickets went to them.
I thought it was a great idea to maybe do on its own or add to our weekly movie nights or Sunday band. It started at like 6:00 and was wrapped up by 9:00pm. Just a couple hours of parents talking and kids playing, it was a great event to attend.
Anyone have any thoughts, ideas? Volunteers?

Hi Ryan,
We currently have a weekly event here in Lakewood that is similar to the festival you describe. Every Thursday evening from 6 to 8 the Lakewood Earth And Food (LEAF) Community holds LEAF Night in front of the new addition to the library on Detroit. Last week was the first-ever. There was an artist, a pair of local musicians, local farmers, games for kids, related books, and many smiling faces. Those who have reserved a sharebag of produce pick up their weekly bag. There may be sample bags this week for purchase, or if not, you could reserve a share for next week.
We've got many ideas that we would like to add as the summer unfolds. The goal is to help build community through eating, sharing, and talking about local food. You and your family should check it out and let us know what suggestions you have based on your recent trip.
The more the merrier!

My photographs will be featured in the LEAF Gallery this week.
Stop by, check out the prints, hear some music, and most of all check out the wonderful things LEAF is doing. This Thursday, 6-8pm, in front of the Library Main Branch.

Did not hear from you.
To make it clear what I was talking about.
Based on the success of the Lakewood Car Show, MAMA's events, LO events and other items, we have established a group of people that can help make dreams of festivals and outdoor projects a reality.
If anyone has an idea call or drop us a line, we would be happy to work with you or hook you up with the right people.
