I spent the BEAUTIFUL day with the fall sports teams at LHS.

Let me tell you, they are working hard so that they can put on a great show for all of you that come to one of their events!

I realized that a lot of Alumni haven't been back to LHS Stadium in a long time. This year would be the best to head back and bring your kids to one of the many events scheduled in the Fall sports season.

A brand new field which looks absolutely amazing.

Brand new coaches. A brand new league. The same great tradition that has filled the air on friday nights for the previous decades.

My challenge to all of you is to come join myself and everyone else that will be down at the events at least once this fall! It's a great time for the kids, and you never know which neighbor, friend or former classmate you might run into!

Ahhh... the beauty of Lakewood High School Sports!

Here's some proof of how hard these kids are working for all of you!

Thanks Ivor for the wonderful photos. And I promise to go to the LHS stadium for at least one event next fall.

The spirit of the youth of Lakewood should be an inspiration to us all.

:D

Well, Ivor, you are certainly one of the. Anyway, Friday nights at Lakewood Stadium are always special. I would encourage everyone to come out and support our students who play football, Volleyball, soccer, play in the band, etc. Every year, despite the W-L record, our football team is successful, because it helps teach kids discipline, commitment, teamwork and perseverance.

Stan,

according to people on the deck, crime rates have gone up here in Lakewood and I have a reason to be scared.

Don't want to be the next theft victim...

Ivor, don't forget about one of the more successful teams (and coaches) at the High School; Lakewood High School's Cross Country Team. How many times have they made it to States in recent years?

It's may not be pristine playing fields, stick and ball (yawn) sports, and hot dogs but more likely rain, mud and just plain ugly conditions.

The Cross Country team can use support too! Oh, and some recognition...
:)

btw, because of the new league, they do not run at Edgewater this year.

Joe,

I haven't been to a CX event yet so I'll hopefully get to go down to the edgewater meets this fall.

the team can be spotted running throughout the city, and I have many friends on the team.

One thing I hated is running, and all these kids get enjoyment out of it. It's a tough thing to do, especially up muddy hills or in the hot sun.

Cx, Girls Tennis and Volleyball are the only teams I haven't shot this summer yet. I'm working on a photo essay preview of the fall sports season. Lots of new faces this year.

New volleyball coach, girls soccer, guys soccer, a few football changes, new basketball coach for the guys. Baseball, Girls Basketball, Cheerleading and Gymnastics (I think) are the only sports that haven't changed coaches.

Ivor, I edited my post above, but there isn't a meet at Edgewater this year.

Don't go!

Is this a Cream Ale event, or are we still doing the Gator-aid thing?
