A post I made regarding the hiring of a new employee in the City's sign department is 100% incorrect. Councilmen Seelie's brother is not an employee of the City and any charges or implications I made regarding cronyism were false.

I made the post on the basis of information provided to me by a usually reliable source in a position of some importance in the City government. Rather than verify information that was easily verifiable I carelessly posted the misinformation.

I regret any aspersions on the character of two dedicated public servants.

While the decisions and actions of those representing us in City government should be open to criticism we should never doubt their devotion to public service. The job of Mayor and Council person is difficult and time consuming and false charges make their job even more difficult than it already is.

I apologize to both Mayor George and Councilman Seelie and all those who read posts on the Observer web site.

Hey, Bill, How about an apology to Dave Seeley, you know him, the guy that your crackerjack source at city hall tipped you off about. You were so quick to apologize to the mayor and the councilman, that I was wondering if it were beneath you to throw an apology to a hard working city worker? Just wondering........

I hear he was harassed pretty seriously by his fellow workers. I guess they didn't believe him when he said he was no relation to the councilman.

I am sorry about any aggravation caused to Dave Seeley by the miss information I posted.
