Not a Random Act of Violence.

This incident involved an extremely ugly custody battle over a child: this was not a random act of violence.

The woman, an employee at McDonalds, was killed by her child's father, who later held the gun to his head and repeated, "I'll never see my child again" as he threatened to shoot himself.

The police were able to take the suspect into custody before he could do any more damage to himself or others.

The police and the mayor have been on-scene this morning.

I think there might be something on the news at noon. Lakewood PD said the media was there. Although, I can't find any local noon news as of now.
Again, listening to this on the scanner, the police had the area cordoned off in minutes and had complete control, as best they could, of the situation.

The Lakewood Observer has been on-scene as well. I'm attempting to get the press release from the LPD.

UPDATE

I just returned from the scene.

The police was there before the suspect got 100 yards.

The police quickly responded and surrounded the suspect, while he held a gun to his head saying, "I will never see my baby again, I will never see my baby again, I will never see my baby again, I will never see my baby again"

The police held him at bay on the bridge over West Clifton, until he slipped between garages, and was captured in the apartment complex there.

It is all so sad.

Thank you for your coverage of a terrible situation, Jim and dl.

Those dramatic photos seem to tell it as it was.

Time and again, it's been my experience in Lakewood that people pulling together and helping each other out during times of tragedy are when this city really shines.

Whether during standoffs, blizzards, or summer storms, our help for each other makes me glad to be a Lakewoodite.

I just feel so badly for the victim.

Also, as with any death, this will affect many other people (friends, co-workers, relatives, and our community) as well.

The victim was a 26 yr. old male LHS grad. Robert ( Sean ) Joslin was an employee at the Sloan Ave McDonald's.

My sympathies to the Joslin family.

I apologize for any inaccuracies reported, my information was gleaned "on the fly" which is where "information" can part from facts.

Ugly day for sure. I was there from shortly after the incident until 2:00.

I have a bunch of pictures but no time to go thru them now.

At least I got to meet Ivor and Robert. Too bad it wasn't under better circumstances.

Sean was a great kid. He was at LHS when I was a senior and he used to help out with the marching band. He always had a lot of energy and a great love of life. I had seen him recently and he was very excited about his new relationship, I had not seen him happier. I wish all the best to his family and friends. He will be missed greatly.
