Style and Fashion in the Wood

Don't shoot the messenger!

Over the past few days, we've had some friends visit, one from Lexington, Kentucky who owns a horse farm and a hotel we performed at when on the road, and one from Sidney, Ohio, a former hotel owner we knew from the same time period. We didn't have a hotel owner's convention but it just worked out that way.

The one common light and no-harm meant question both people brought up on taking a tour of the Wood, was "what is the style of clothing here?".

We took our friend from Lexington, who enjoys dressing well, as I prefaced a bit about his business, to 3Bird, and he was surprised at in general how casual the customers dressed. Equally surprised at Swingo's. He had been on the east side, and remarked that the far eastern suburbs, ie: Gates Mills, Pepper Pike, the people seemed to dress "with more style".

To make a long story short, I really hadn't given it much thought, but the Wood dresses...eclectic. That's a good word that sometimes translates to "We do our own thing".

Our friend from Sidney leans toward western wear, and dresses equally nice but within the western cut suits, boots and such, all of the highest quality, and again remarked how everyone did their own thing but there wasn't any indication of a common "style".

Both made rather negative statements about the " jeans around the knees", but then again I wasn't going to defend those either.

In our discussions on crime and other heavy threads, to something lighter for a bit, what is our "style" and do we only wear GQ/Allure attire for "sunday go to meetin' " times or events?

Btw, I'm still looking for Western boots sz 11-12 or women's 8s to add to my collection so if anyone has or spots any, especially vintage ones, let me know. Older the better but all are worth a look see.
Also, ho-chi-minh sandals.
