Oprah and Pedophiles

Whether you are an Oprah fan or not, I urge you to go to her website Oprah.com and download or copy a pre-written statement to senators and governors to encourage tougher laws for pedophiles. It takes only minutes and the link for addresses for the senators and governors are provided.
It is the hope that the nation will become united with tougher laws, as some states are extremely lenient. Rehabilitation shows not to work and we need to fight for mandatory life sentences for these predators. Please write the ones we elected to let them know this matters, for all the children. The smallest gesture times thousands makes a difference.

Funny, I was just thinking about this.
As I watched a movie on DVD last night, I paid attention to the FBI Warning on tape duplication or showing. The penalty for violating the law is up to 5 years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
I thought it was a fairly stiff penalty when you know that murderers and child molesters often receive far less. But hey, gotta protect those rich media moguls.

Grace,
That is so funny. Imagine foreigners studying our country and seeing those discrepancies! On Oprah Bill O Reilly said that Vermont is the most lenient on pedophiles (and then Mass) and that one gross predator that molested/raped a 6 yo for four years got about one year jail and a $22 fine! Isn't that fine a slap! I always think to myself, when I hear judges that are lenient on sexual offenders, that they must be one! How else could you justify slap on the wrist for the worst crime in the world? If I had my way, I would find a way for that pedophile to be the judge's neighbor!
Your comment also reminded me of an article a couple months back in the PD about the "horrors" of purse parties in suburban homes! All the people buying know they are fakes so the only victims are the "rich designers" who aren't really victims because people paying $50 for a purse would never buy a real designer purse! I couldn't even afford the $50 rip-off! (or don't see the need for a name.) But what bothered me is how many atrocities are happening and the PD took out two pages to report on this "horror"-much like the penalty for copying DVD's!
I do think by everyone flooding the politician's mail is the only way to get changes though. Unless you are a lobbyist with money.
