Thanks for the info. I'll definitely shop there occasionally (most people who do call it "whole paycheck" because it's expensive).

But why call it yuppie? Because it's healthy and organic? Does that make Nature's Bin yuppie? Web of Life yuppie? By that token, Giant Eagle should be yuppie because they have a sizeable organic section ... or gasp! Wal-Mart is going to seriously add organic foods to their food sections. Good lord, they'll be yuppie too!!!

Hmmm, here I thought I tried to eat organic and healthy because of my diabetes ... perhaps it's because I'm really a yuppie!

ok I changed it from Yuppie to Healthy. I guess whether or not yuppie applies depends why you are going there. I honestly have never been to a Whole Foods, so I don't know if I like them or not.

I'm not sure how this is big news to us, as we have Nature's Bin and Trader Joe's within closer driving distance, but good news nonetheless.

Neither the Bin nor Trader Joes has the variety of Whole Foods. They are quite unique in their segment (grocery stores) and will fill a void that currently exists in the market. Are they more expensive? Yes. But after spending the better part of a day looking for this ingredient here and that ingredient there, I will be thrilled to have them

Not to mention it brings another one of Lakewood;s finest back to the region where he belongs!!

I agree with Charyn. While on vacation in Boston we were in walking distance of a Whole Foods and Trader's Joe. We first headed to Trader's Joes because that's what we were familiar with but after stopping at the Whole Foods Market on our way back from the T we never went back to Trader Joes even though it was closer to our hotel.

For anyone who does not know, there is a store called Web of Life on Detroit in Westlake (just west of Columbia Rd.) that offers organic and healthy items from food to health care products. Not huge, but a nice place. Thought I would mention since it seemed to fit the topic.

thanks. I will check it out. Hopefully their sidewalk is shoveled or else I will make a u-turn back to Lakewood.

If you are interested in healthy/whole foods, you should get involved with the newly-formed Lakewood Earth & Food (L.E.A.F.) Community bulk buying discussions. We are having a meeting at Lakewood Public Library Main Branch Auditorium at 6pm on Thursday, February 22.
A bunch of other Lakewood residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the selection and high prices at local stores and we are researching other (LOCAL) alternatives. If we all use these "specialty" ingredients and buy them in bulk we can bring down the cost AND help local farmers/bee keepers/suppliers.
Just an idea...
