Any interest in Blogs?

As we look into the future of the Lakewood Observer there was talk at one time of allowing members to start Blogs. A place they could run their daily or weekly manifestos of life.

We had decided it would be better to have open dialog.

Is there any interest?

As always if you can think of that would help the Lakewood Observer to serve the city, the residents, the readers, and members better just drop it in one of the many suggestion boxes around the website.

We are here for you.

I would put that number closer to 90%.

At the same time we have some interesting things coming online that would be served by blogs.

We have just found a young Lakewoodite that wants to be our extreme travel expert, and has a blog now. Currently she is snow boarding in the Alps then heading to Africa. Her daily entries are really great.

Just looking for ways to get more involved.

Blogs are fine ... some can be quite good, some can be boring. But then again, that's true with some of the posts here!

The key thing I've learned, is that unless you have the time to really devote to a blog, after a while the coolness factor wears off, and you eventually quit doing it. I managed to do one for several years, but I think it's been now more than a year since I even did an entry. Life intruded. My work writing takes more precedent than my freetime writing, so out went the blog.

I think if you do allow blogs from readers, you'll end up with a lot at the beginning, but they'll go by the wayside and eventually you'll just have a few dedicated ones.

Extreme travel would be interesting, but then it's also a tad annoying to those of us whose idea of "extreme travel" would be going to Akron.
