The Lakewood High Cheerleaders are sending care packages to Lakewood residents who are serving overseas in our military.

When Lakewood High played Euclid a couple of weeks ago the cheerleaders took up a collection in order to send packages to our residents who are in the military and overseas. I was pleasantly suprised that I had to actually wait my turn to toss in some money. As an aside, I want to thank any and all who donated. This includes many Euclid fans!

Cheerleading coach Joannie Whitlock has a list of names of former students who are serving but it may not be complete. I mentioned that with reservists being called up and sent overseas there may be "older" (by high school standards) residents who may not be on the list. I explained that a 30 something may have been sent and might not be on the list that the girls have. I then brought up how the Observer was read by many and was asked if I would post this request:

If you know of ANY Lakewood resident who is serving our country overseas please let me know and I will make sure the cheerleaders have their address. Although this is designed for the older personnel who may have slipped through the cracks, please feel free to get me the address of anyone so that they are not missed. I would rather give her a name she already has than take the chance of someone being missed. I know I should have done this a while ago, but with the holidays and all, I procrastinated and I apologize.

To get me the info you can e-mail me the name and military address and I will forward it to Coach Whitlock. My e-mail is dadsaysno@cox.net.

The LHS Alumni Office is sending an enewsletter out to our list next week including a request for this information.

BTW... It's a daunting task trying to track the 30,000+ living alumni of LHS. Alumni can call or email our office to update their information in our database.

AND... watch for the debut of our new website and E-RangerStore right here on the Lakewood Observer's server!! We're hoping to go live by the end of January (fingers crossed!!). It's our hope to build our own local Lakewood Rangers classmates site where folks can post to a discussion board, read about LHS news and events, visit exhibits in our virtual archives, and more!!!
