New gallery up for just my photography that I've done in my spare time. I'm running low on ideas, inspirations and locations so I figured I'd turn to the Deck for fresh eyes, criticism, etc..

Anything out there that you want to see captured (other than Bin Laden)?

Does anyone have any locations that they would recommend?

I'm really excited for the fall season and all the colors, I've already got a few weekend trips planned, but I'm always looking for more!

I've been wanting to go to Lakeview Cemetary for a long time now, but I haven't found the courage to do so. Although the cemetary is gorgeous and very interesting, the neighborhood that it's in intimidates me.

I would like to see the garbage trucks and flintstone vehicles. Maybe some shots from the top of the Shoreham, Berkshire (which appear to be where Don Farris shot his), or one of the other buildings along the lake. Maybe a Birdtown Review? Pretty soon it will be Halloween, and I am sure you could find some interesting shots for that. I already saw a Halloween Hearst buzzing around town.

just my two cents

Lakeshore Cemetary has free tours and is well worth the visit.

I also like Erieview (I think) cemetary on, like 13th street, downtown. It's not as far south as the Jake and east of it. Many years ago, I worked downtown and I used to eat lunch there on a regular basis.

I look forward to checking out your photos!

the Riverside Cemetery off West 25th has a lot of cool headstones, monuments, and mausoleums. It is open 7:30 am to 5 PM to anyone. There is also a nice view of the future Wal-Mart and its associated Parking lots, and also the steel mills in the distance, and a few dilapidated rich-folk homes along the highway from even-before the rock and roll past.

Do you have any shots of the old Aquifer near the Flats?

I'd love to see some shots FROM the Lake, looking at the shoreline.....Lakewood Park, and the really interesting land conservation projects that a number of homeowners have undertaken to prevent erosion.

I would love to see Lakewood Churches. We have such a variety of them.

Hey Ivor,
Don't be intimidated by the neighborhood around Lakeview. The cemetery is well maintained and safe during the day. Many people tour the cemetery on Saturday and Sunday so there are usually plenty of people around. The Garfield monument is amazing and the second floor deck has a great view of downtown on a clear day. They even have picnic tables around the Garfield monument so pack a lunch. Fall would be a great time for a photo shoot. Hope you make it over. I enjoy your photos. Later,Ken

The picture of St.James Church isn't perfect, you can see where the two pictures have been put together... but oh well!

I have a project or two coming up that I'm sure you fellow observers will like.

I'm always looking for new interesting locations here in Lakewood. I've visited a couple of churches, but I wonder if I can actually get inside when there's no mass/service going on. Anyone know?

and for those who are in search of wallpapers/ backgrounds for their computers....

tadahhhhhh!

Ivor,
One of the best place to take pictures this time of year is the Metro Parks and the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad. Check out this web site and send something in for their contest. You could win something easily.

Also there is a photo contest at the Cleveland Botanical Garden every two years for their flower show. You should enter. They also have a volunteer position for the Show in which you can be Clerk. You follow around the judges and listen to them critique the work. You can learn allot from what they say. You just listen and keep track of what they say and then hand out all the ribbons..it amazing what wins..it is never what you think will win.

The show is the first weekend in May..so take shots now to get ready..When i find out the categories...I will let you know...it is juried...so it wonderful just to get in. I was lucky enough to get 2 out of 3 entries in last year. Nothing won but I was just glad to get the experience.

I will keep you posted...

Goodluck,
Rhonda
