Sign spells trouble for Fry area thieves

A Fry Avenue resident apparently had enough of thieves who took a statue off of her front porch. She put a sign on the porch with a message for the culprit. However, a neighbor called police and said there was an offensive banner on the porch that stated the resident put a witchcraft spell on the neighborhood.

Police advised the caller that the sign addressed thieves on private property and the woman was within her rights to display it.

Lakewood has a pretty large Pagan contingent. Many are also members of the Unitarian Church in Rocky River. One of my favorites is Betty Haas, who has been around forever, and can be seen often reading at Phoenix.

We are members at the UU church in Rocky River as well. Not good members as we haven't gone in a while, but still members. I guess it is just funny to read someone calling on the police because a "witch cast a spell on them." If this individual honestly thinks that a spell has been cast (and believes in spells like that), what do they think the police will do? Maybe cast some counter-curse ala Harry Potter?

Jim and Phil--- I went to Sunday School at Westshore Unitarian and guess I would still consider myself to be associated with that denomination.

But JEEEEEZ LOUISE !!!!!!!!!!! I don't get the link between Unitarians and withches!

We are one of the few mainline churches, outside of the Wiccan faith itself of course, that are openly accepting and inviting to beliefs of all kinds, including Wiccans, Christians, Jews, Muslim, agnostic, Humanist, Other, etc. etc.

Phil we are Unitarian Universalists too - and Christians.

There are four and arguably five presidents of the US who were as well.
John Adams
John Quincy Adams
Millard Fillmore
William Howard Taft

and Thomas Jefferson espoused beliefs in keeping with the UU philosophy.

While Phil is absolutely right that we are accepting of all beliefs, the prinicpals are positive and uplifting.

Hey, this is a fun thread--Pagans have such an "affect" on the mainstreamers.....when in truth are no different.......

Anyway, I will certainly be more cognizant of my surroundings at Westshore UU...sounds like some wonderful pp attend and I had no clue!
