If available, a limited number of tour tickets may be purchased the day of the tour at the Nicholson House, 13335 Detroit, for $20 each.
The year’s tour includes the landmark Masonic Temple, including a glimpse inside its private second-story lodge room; a stately Clifton Park Georgian colonial; a lavish Victorian owned by the same family for 90 years; Lakewood’s newest architectureâ€â€the first occupied Rockport Square condo; a cozy historic Birdtown cottage; a Clarence Mack townhouse completely renovated in a dramatic contemporary style; a stunning lakefront mansion complete with billiard room; and a colonial revival with a touch of whimsy.
The restored Nicholson House at 13335 Detroit Avenue will be open for day of tour ticket sales ($20), refreshments and a fabulous display of Templar cars and memorabilia. You’ll see original advertisements, photographs, stock certificates, car parts, an elementary-aged student produced documentary and two cars (weather permitting!) You’ll learn the history of the only car manufactured right here in Lakewood from local expert David Buehler and the students of the 2/3 Grade Discovery Class at Grant Elementary School. Stop by any time during the tour to browse through our selection of Lakewood books and gifts.
An elegant brick Tudor with tranquil lake views is the site for the Patron Party on Saturday, September 9 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Its history includes recognition by the Clay League, an organization founded to promote the building of brick houses. Patron Party tickets are $100 for a Golden Sponsor or $75 for a regular attendee and are available by mail order only. Both include a tour ticket. New this tour will be a unique array of one of a kind silent auction items. This stunning private residence is not on Sunday’s tour.
