The Lakewood Observer is approaching our 1st anniversary, with our next issue. It only seems like weeks ago that this project into civic journalism project was launched. The actual truth is that some of the advisory board have been working night and day on this for over two years.

The Lakewood Observer will be recapping the year and looking forward to the future, Including a special thanks thanks to all the volunteers and advertisers which now number over 1,000.

During our celebration we will be launching many new features, including the Lakewood Shopping Experience(every store in Lakewood on-line), VMRs(Virtual Meeting Rooms for many of Lakewood clubs and groups), Classifieds Ads that raise funding for charities (classified ads on-line that are free provided you give at least $5.00 to a Lakewood charity), More Active Community meetings (every other week, featuring public personalities in the news in a very relaxed atmosphere).

The Lakewood Observer will not stop or slow down. In the next couple months we intend to finally launch our Wireless Corridors down Detroit and Madison, Provide E_Commerce for any Lakewood Business($20 a month instead of $500 or more a month), Walking and Biking Clubs, LO Rally, Car Show, a partnership with the Lakewood Hospital on "Starry Night" the party the night before Lakewood Arts and Craft Show, and some very special surprises, not all of them in Lakewood!

Thanks for all the support, and for taking part in the grand experiment that we call the Lakewood Observer, but what others are now calling a great economic and civic revitalization tool.

"Working together, in the open, is the key of a good community."

Peace

- Mission Statement -
The mission of the Lakewood Observer is to attract, articulate, and amplify civic intelligence and community good will in the city of Lakewood and beyond.

Our goal is to help Lakewood residents and neighbors learn as much as possible about the city. In its efforts to know Lakewood par excellence, the Lakewood Observer will illuminate the many facets of culture, arts, business, education, religion, and lifestyle this diverse city has to offer.

The Lakewood Observer will capture Lakewood life in the present, imagine its promising future, and celebrate its rich urban history.

The Lakewood Observer shall provide a sounding board for charities, institutions, schools, children, families, events, and City Hall. We intend to open a space for long running dialogue with everyone who works, lives, or plays in the great city of Lakewood.

In this twenty-first century urban experiment, the Lakewood Observer will strive to construct for the city an open and unbiased ensemble of white papers for mapping community solutions, advancing responsible economic development and sustainability strategies, and tracking results.

Finally, the Lakewood Observer will invite the entire community to celebrate the vibrant mosaic of culture, nature, history, and personality we call Lakewood.
