I just requested that the joint Rocky River - Lakewood Memorial Day Parade be added to the List of upcoming events on the Observer.
I understand that this is for Lakewood events and the parade will take place in Rocky River, but it is a Lakewood event also.

It starts at 10:30 am on May 29th at Rocky River High School.

It's too bad noone else has replied to your question; and also that this event has been overlooked here.

If Jimmy's around he may be able to do that, but you might want to think about submitting calendar events before a holiday weekend...

I was surprised that it wasn't there already. Sorry for submitting it on such short notice. I should have paid more attention to the calender.

Should Jim not be around; the event starts at Rocky River High School and goes to Lakewood Cemetery, which is on Detroit Road in Rocky River.

I believe there is supposed to be a speaker at the event.

I guess I was unaware there was a question. But I do agree, that today the true meaning of Memorial Day seems to be lost to most.

Terry, I'll have you know that last night, every drink of Wild Turkey (in honor of the late Hunter S. Thompson) was toasted: "to the troops!" or "to all war vets!" or "to the ones that never came home!" I have to agree with you. While I too am pretty liberal and disagree with alot of what's going on in today's world I fully understand that without the troops and their sacrifice I wouldn't have the freedom to disagree.

I worked at the Indians game tonight, and the Army band played the National Anthem before the game. I gotta say, that was the best performance of the National Anthem I've ever witnessed!
