I'm trying to get my dad interested in using the computer. He needs to keep his mind active, and he seems interested in the computer. If anyone has an old one that runs, thats in Lkwd or very close, that would like to give it away, or sell at a low price, let me know, please. PC only, since I know nothing about Macs.
thanks,
Mark

I think if you want old but still working and for cheap, check out DC Parts on Detroit Rd. They have some old systems for about $100 including monitors. I haven't bought a system there but I buy hardware there all the time.

I may be able to throw one together for you... what are you looking for as far as capabilities... basic word proc and internet access I assume... ?

Do you care if it runs windows or an open source os?

Everything I have in my scrap is licensed for windows 98...

drop me an email if you haven't already found something...

James,

That would be great. I can't seem to be able to find your email address.
All that's needed is win98, abilty to get on the net on DSL
and not a whole lot more.

Seems James got lost. Anyone else on this board have a computer that you no longer have a need for?

You might Try Freecycle cleveland:

I don't have a whole spare working system, myself. Just a very broken laptop and an iMac that has some serious issues - too expensive to fix.

Hi, and welcome to the Deck. I've tried there, and will continue to post there, but it's allowed only 1x a week. Sooooooo, we'll see. I figure if I ask around enough, someone will have one lying around. I have a couple old ones that don't work but are not fixable I don't think, but for some odd reason I can't seem to trash them. All need hard drives and all would need Windows. Win98 drivers aren't available for the old hardware, I've been told so I'll keep on looking : ) ..
