Sadly the Observer photogblog is down at the moment, so I've put the pictures of the 4th Annual LHS Physics Cardboard Boat Regatta on my own gallery site.

It was a really fun event, students even got the choice to wake up extra early and be at the pool at 6:30AM to be on the Kickin' it with Kenny show on Fox 8. 18 teams ended up participating and it got them extra credit!

After school at 3:15 PM in front of a packed house 55 teams from the LHS Physics classes took part of the actual Boat Regatta race, which was a blast! lots of sinking and laughing, but also lots of winners too! a few of the news stations around the viewing area showed up too, and we even had the front cover of the Plain Dealer!

well here are the pictures! hope you enjoy them!

WOW!!! Looks like one team had it all----the cowgirl/rangerette boat!

Good boat insignia (cowboy boots) and good team uniforms---cowboy hats and kerchiefs!

Did they win?

they won their heat, but the overall winner of the regatta was the pair in the very last picture.. i think they set a new time record too

55 groups competed

i don't know how many actually made it across, I'll ask my physics teacher

Very fun event. My youngest son and I were there. His fourth grade teacher made a boat. Teachers and staff participated, too!! It was a blast.

i happened to see the plain dealer where the students from LHS were on the front page, and the caption says "6 of 51 students made it across the pool to the finish line"

so counting the administration and organizations that made a boat, its roughly 55.

thats a bit less than a 11% ratio!

Thanks! I didn't see the paper with that story, so I appreciate the information.

I'm so impressed with 55 entries!

p.s. it looks like the Observer photo blogs are up again.
