Most memorable story - Mary Bodnar's Turtle Story (It has become a legndary tale)

Well there is a small start, have at it.

Last year we were legally married, and had our baby daughter. Other than that, I was in pretty much a daze. I think my list, right now would be rather strange. I'll think on this and come back to it.

Best Event - As Always 4th of July Parade (passing out the new Observer)/ Dog Swim - I think is a great idea.

Best Lakewood Sports Moment - Lakewood's Girls Rugby team winning Nationals!

Best Lakewood Restaurant - Borderline Cafe

Best Renovation - Building between Around the Corner and North Coast Beds I also like the awnings at Wilhelmy Florist it is amazing how they enhanced the building so easily.

Best New Idea - Savannah Farris - Lakewood Park

Best Implemented New Idea - The Observer (come on I know you said not to mention it - but this is new concept in citizen journalism and has been well implemented (hopefully Savannah's will win this next year :)) The runner up to this is Lakewood Catholic Academy - which made great use of St. Augustine.

Best animal seen - Bald Eagles I did see the pictures

Best new park thing - Skate Park

Worst Moment - The way the sale of the home at Nicholson and Lake was handled.

------

Side note breaking my rule.

Observer Moments -

Most important Story - Dan Slife uncovering Brother Petty.(Some think this might be the worst child molesting case in US history!)

Most memorable story - Fighting for the Disenfranchised - I loved that you inspired Hunter enough to write.

Worst traffic area - I-90 and Warren and Detroit & Bell to Detroit and Arthur around 4-6 pm.
Best Addition to the LPD - The Motorcycles
Best Remodeling on Madison ..total rebuild into a 2 floor facility - Titanic Restaurant on Madison and Arthur, formerly Martinis, but why it's not open I have no idea.

Agreed with Worst handling of sale of property on Nicholson.

Best Ob-GYN MD and related surgeon, Kristen Ekman MD, in our opinion, with talent, mind and attitude that are blessed.

Worst Inconveniences due to lack of a businesses- For those living south of Detroit, lack of drugstore on Madison around Warren (good central location). Lack of a good supermarket.

Best Civic internet entity- Free Recycling Cleveland (Yahoo groups)

Best Cartoon show for adults to watch too - Hey Arnold, Nicktoons at 6am (should be on prime time as Flintstones used to be. It's not a yuk yuk type cartoon, a lot more intellectual than the Flintstones were. It has positive messages and ethics by it's storylines, and characters that you can identify with at any age. Good for ages 2-102

Have more.

Best Lakewood record store - My Mind's Eye on Madison. Almost everything I want, almost nothing I don't.
Best place to rent videos in Lakewood - I'm saddened to have to pick a national chain, but Hollywood Video just has the best selection in town. That said, the Lakewood Public Library runs a close second, especially if you dig foereign films and old classics.
Best cheap entertainment in Lakewood - The Detroit Theater. $3.50 movies, what more do you want?
Best Lakewood restraunt - A tough call, but I'm gonna' go with Aladdin's on Detroit Road. But hey, I just moved here in July. Still haven't tried all the fine culinary treats in town.
Honorable mention for a corporate fast food chain: Detroit Road Taco Bell for lunch. The night crew there sucks, but the lunch crew always delivers.
Best Lakewood waitress - Ethyl at Klucks. 88 years old and still able to toss out the witty comments.

Hey, I've only lived here since this past July, so don't be too hard on me if you think I'm nuts. Hopefully I'll have more to comment on (and have more informed opinions) next year.
