Soggy news

So far we've been very lucky delivering the Observer.....relatively dry/warm weather. So, now we are looking at a long run of wet and snowy conditions.....Nobody likes a wet paper, but are there any suggestions on keeping these babies dry? Can we get newspaper baggies or is that cost prohibitive? I know we can't use the mail box, and I hesitate to open the storm doors. Any ideas, suggestions?

Can we list the places where you can find the Observer? I think that would help people that probably won't be delivered the paper due to soggy or snowy conditions.
I just delivered;
McDonald's
Nature's Bin
Borderline Cafe
The Diner
Donato's
West End Tavern

My understanding is that a "MAIL" box is essentially US Post office property, and only US post office deliveries may be placed therein.....Of course, if the box is unlabeled, I guess its Okay.

Could we have an update on Mailboxes being US government property?
Slots in doors?

Maybe reusable Observer plastic bags could be bulk ordered and hung on doorknobs?
Observer Plastic Bins on porches?

On it, waiting for quotes on printed and unprinted.
Generally I stick with nothing in mailboxes. Between doors, railing, under carpet, in door handle, under mailboxes, through mail slots, paper boxes, and any place the owner said was OK.

My understanding from my paperboy days is that it is a federal offense to put anything but US mail in a mailbox. Doubtful the Postal Service Bogeyman is watching, but a disgruntled homeowner familiar with postal law could file a complaint, and you don' t want to anger the postal gods.
