Library Catalog Upgrade?

Has anyone else noticed the library card catalog and online account system has been down for over 24 hours because of an upgrade? Even when I went into the library yesterday it wasn't working at all.

Anyone have any information as to what's going on? Seems like a critical thing for a library to have down for more than a day although I am excited to find out what the upgrades will bring.

Brian:

The upgrade is complete. The system is running.

The compelling driver for the upgrade was a matter of company support for the version of the software not major new features. The old version would no longer be supported.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Ken,
It's still not working on the website yet but I'm sure that will be corrected later. Thanks for the update!

Brian:

We are experiencing a problem with an element in the I Bistro upgrade and are working on a remedy.

Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Brian:

I believe the system is functioning for remote use.

I should add, in response to your broad question about possible improvements, that the system upgrade does provide opportunity for the provision of e-books and automated telephone call notification.

These are two improvements under consideration.

There has not been much demand for e-books from our customers, however.

Thanks again for your patience.

Not a problem, and I'm glad to see it back up. And even though visually it's only slightly different, I do like it better.

And I have to agree, I don't know if eBooks will ever be a big thing. It's just not as comfortable as holding an actual book and reading it.

E-books are the only thing I read now. I can read them on a screen, burn them to a disk or listen to them on my Ipod. No late fees from the library, can resize type, etc.. Much better than a book IMHO.
