Slife and I were underequipped, (couldn't record,) yet the hour we spent covering Saturday's Hiroshima day protest at the recruiting center doorstep, then the brief parade up to the edge of the Arts Fest blocks, begged many questions.

The protest group grew from about 20 at the beginning to 50-60 at the point they walked up the street. Counted six over-35 at the start and Dan estimated at least two thirds were between the ages of 16-24.

Didn't do a survey of how many lived in Lakewood.

Talked with a gal in her forties who was pushing leaflets aligned with the non-violent removal of the 'Bush regime' through mass action. (...a very old dream of the radical left in the sense that -always- the goal has been to first end and then reform the capitalist system.) Discovered, easily, the protest's roots in old fashioned leftism of this sort.

Questions arise:

(1) what are the different stripes of active anti-war activities in Lakewood

(2) are any, if they exist, home grown enough or otherwise insulated from the radical fringe

(3) who are the shakers and movers

(4) where can we learn more from activist Lakewoodites

(5) any data on actual Lakewood losses or injury in combat in Iraq

(6) Do lakewood reservists belong to specific units?

(7) what's the sense on the street about Iraq?

PM Slife or me; better: attach comments if you have any ideas or leads
