We heard on the radio that this is the last day of operation in Lakewood of DeLorean Cadillac.

I don't know if they are moving or what the future hold for them. I didn't think the new development went that far north, but I may have missed something in the rumor mill.

Aside from the Cadillacs, I will never forget the sight (many years ago) of a parking lot full of the stainless steel DeLorean cars with the gull-wing doors. They were cool. They were hot. They looked like nothing I had ever seen before. It was a wild experiment.

I wondered, since those cars were so distinctive, who would buy them and where they would eventually "live". There was a spark of wonder there.

DeLorean was bought by Spitzer Management Co., but the plans for the landmark site are not clear. The cars have been moved to Brookpark Rd. where Spitzer operates Spitzer Motor City (Brookpark & 130th).

DeLorean had owned the property since 1977 and he's trying to find his 48 employees other jobs.

Mayor Tom George was disappointed to see the city lose a good corporate client.

Perhaps they'll move the dealership from Detroit to 117th.

Observers,

The sale of De Lorean on W. 117 St. was no surprise. We have been in contact with the Spitzer folks regarding this situation for some time.

Although we are disappointed in losing De Lorean, there is now an opportunity to create new development at W. 117 and Madison which in the past, didn't exist.

None, I repeat NONE, of the development proposals in the recent past regarding W. 117 St. and Madison had a locked up deal with the De Lorean property. Without De Lorean's property, no significant development could take place. There is now an opportunity to assemble parcels that could make development possible.
